Knowledge transfer

Those attending gained important insights into current industry topics through three keynote presentations.

Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Thomas Koch from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Institute for Reciprocating Engines) gave a talk on “Mobility for Everyone – How we can realise the path to common sense and CO² neutral fuels!”It became clear that both combustion engines and electric vehicles have a future.

Marc van den Molengraaf of the Saris Aanhangers BV company concluded by presenting the findings achieved by TIV’s “Trailer of the Future” working group.

All the presentations are available to members in the Download section of the TIV website, along with an overview from the Chairman of the Executive Board on TIV activities since the last Annual General Meeting of Members.

Reports of the Working Groups

The presentation on Driving Licence Regulations is available in the download section of our website.

Now new information is available concerning the standardisation of the coupling height, which the TIV is striving for, or on the arrestor cable / breakaway cable.

The same applies to Trailer Type Approvals and the EU Directive on Technical Inspections.

Where the Cybersecurity EU-NIS 2 regulation is concerned, it is still unclear whether this will be relevant for TIV members at all. It is recommended that we wait for the legal regulations.

Load securing: Information on the VDI guideline 2700, which only applies to perforated floors, is available for download on the homepage following its amendment, which comes into force on 1 September. The member companies Böckmann, STEMA, Henra, Humbaur and Eder will form a new TIV Working Groupe to advocate for existing protections and mitigate foreseeable disadvantages for TIV members.

The Presentation of the Fraunhofer IWU „CFP comparative study of road transport systems with and without trailers”  is available in the download area on the website, alongside the presentation on the Car Trailer Interface and the presentation on the standardised single rim. Motions to dissolve the "Electric Car Interface" working group were rejected by vote. On the contrary, the VDA's 12-point plan will continue to be pursued by the working group.

Formal Matters

The minutes of the last Annual General Meeting of Members were unanimously approved. The 2023 annual report and the 2025 budget were unanimously accepted by the Annual General Meeting of Members, as was the stable annual membership fee of € 4,500. About Us

The Trailer Industrie Verband, founded in 2015, and based in Berlin, represents the interests of the trailer industry and its suppliers in dialogue with policymakers, administration, and other associations, both at the national level and on the European stage. The goal of the association is to make the concerns of the industry heard and to involve the TIV in legislative processes at an early stage.
