MdB Gero Storjohann (CDU): Speech held at the TIV General Meeting of Members

On 17 September 2020 MdB (Member of the German Parliament) Gero Storjohann, rapporteur of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group on road traffic law and road safety, attended our general meeting of members. In a speech he discussed topics with regards to which we have been in constructive exchanges with him for some time: Trailer driving licences and current issues relating to driving licence reform and uniform homologation in Europe.

Since the third EU Driving Licence Directive came into force, driving licence categories are now only regulated via the EU. The German Presidency of the EU Council should also be used to reaffirm Germany's interests in a fourth driving licence directive," stated Storjohann.

We in the TIV are delighted that the exchanges have strengthened his conviction of the need for better legal implementation and look forward to receiving his support and to the timely implementation of reforms in the EU.
